International Student Application Process

STAR Prep Academy accepts a limited number of International Students each school year as part of its focus on Building Global Citizenship within its graduates.  Applications are reviewed by the Academy's Admissions Team and are accepted year round.  Students must demonstrate an interest to study in the United States, a comfort with small learning communities and a level of comfort with the English language.   

International students must submit TOEFL English proficiency exam scores and complete a Skype interview as part of the admissions process. English as a Second Language (ESL) classes are offered, but on a limited basis and only for one year.  

Any applicant that is not a U.S. Citizen must apply as an International Student.

Admissions Process

Step 1 - Application

Please download the application linked here and submit the application to the address provided along with a $120 non-refundable application fee.  

International student applicants must complete all of the following steps to begin the admissions process. Please send all application documents to our school via mail:

Admissions Checklist

  • $120 USD Application Fee (check or money order payable to STAR Prep Academy)

  • Application

  • School Transcripts for the last 3 years translated into English

  • Immunization Record in English (please download the Immunization Requirements here) ***All immunization records must be up to date before the I 20 will be sent.

  • Recommendation Letters

  • TOEFL English Proficiency Test (minimum score of 65) - no other English proficiency tests are accepted.  

  • Student Essay

  • Color Photo of Student

  • Copy of Passport

  • Copy of a Bank Statement (showing sufficient funds to pay for tuition and fees)

Step 2 - Skype Interview

Once the initial application is received and reviewed by our Admissions Team, a Skype Interview will be scheduled.

Step 3 - I-20 Application

After completing the admissions process the Admissions Team will make an admissions decision. Students will be notified of acceptance or denial via email.  

If a student is accepted, STAR Prep Academy will process the I-20 application if the international student requires an I-20 to apply for an F-1 Student Visa in their home country.

Step 4 - Homestay Arrangement

STAR Prep Academy has limited partnerships with homestay agencies and will attempt to assist families with housing placements. However, we encourage all families to pursue housing on their own as the engage in the admissions process.  

For students who do not need a homestay, proof of residence with an immediate family member must be provided.


Step 5 - Health Insurance

International students must show proof of medical coverage/health insurance. The health insurance should cover doctor visits, medicine, and treatments, in addition to hospital stays and emergency services.

Global Benefits Group provides single plan insurance options for international students.  

 Step 6 - Registration and Tuition Payment

 Once all steps are complete, STAR Prep Academy will send relevant registration materials to the student’s family for completion.  All registration forms will need to be returned prior to enrollment.   

International students are required to pay for the entire year's tuition and fees before the new school year begins.   Exceptions apply for rolling admissions.
