Welcome from the Admissions Team

Looking for a middle/high school that fits your unique teenager?  STAR Prep Admissions seek students that are intellectually curious, highly motivated and passionate about the pursuit of lifelong learning.  We are a cooperative collaboration of dedicated teachers and engaged students that are eager to contribute their ideas and passions to the academic and extracurricular programs of the school.

STAR Prep Academy is dedicated to enrolling students from diverse economic, ethnic, racial, and social backgrounds. We actively recruit qualified students from all over the Greater Los Angeles Area to encourage this diverse student body. To support this financial commitment, the school works with its parent organization, STAR, Inc. to grant financial assistance based on demonstrated need. Limited financial aid is available and awarded using a need-based sliding scale with a merit requirement.

We welcome and encourage applicants and their families to visit our school.  STAR Prep Academy holds several weekday and weekend Open Houses throughout the year, but we are always ready to provide a personal tour during our school day to give families a sneak-peak into the engaging and interactive learning atmosphere of our school.

STAR Prep Academy does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin, religion, gender, marital status, age or sexual orientation in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, hiring practices, scholarships and any other school administered programs.

The Admissions Committee utilizes a holistic approach in evaluating applications for new students. The committee reviews student grades, test scores, and recommendations to get the most complete picture of the applicant.  The applicant will also be asked to write a personal statement and attend an interview to provide the committee with a better idea of the student’s strengths and areas in need of improvement.  Upon request, the student will be offered a “Shadow Morning” where they can participate in classes, allowing them to meet some of their fellow students and teachers.

Applicants will receive responses approximately 2 weeks after the completion of the Shadow Morning/ Student Interview, and the submission of the completed application. We encourage applicants to apply early due to the limited space available at some grade levels.
